Intel Edison used in BABYBE
Ye lets open the new chapter in Embedded Systems, I think uC more and more got replaced with
shrinked down full pc chips. So we are using Intel Edison adding more power and the whole linux power int he background.
our maker space in UC Berkeley... we are now into hotfixes for final presentaiton day

Segbuy, A place to be to source electronics in Shenzhen
Here we go, Segbuy is just in viewline to the Haxlr8r office. So just a 5 min walk you can get all parts you ever dreamed or parts you ever wanted for a view coins, often actually very often you have samples for free which would be worth 20 or 30 Euros in Germany. If some parts not on stock the super friendly girls invited you for a cupe of tee and send out the agents get the parts in the buildings arroudn the corner for you... I love that. Usually I go there directly with my PCB to chek out the best fitting switches and parts...Also If you need fresh PCB or flexible PCBs or watever..... like laser cutted Aluminum parts... just take your USB Stick with your data and start the production right now from one of the desks there and shipping to your desk... Its so easy

BABYBE is a softrobotics emotional prosthetic
Well actually we are made a robot emulating the mothers chest in all of its nuances. Actually its a softrobotic solution using principles of bionics, latest soft materials and state of the art controlling to generate a breathing like moving like a real chest of a mother, heartbeat and sound with all its fine acoustics. In generally most of soft robotic robots just can walk or more or less like a simple hand, well not really an interesting user-case.
SO still now more ore less just academic gadgets with not a real use yet.
So the BABYBE System is also inspired by the social robot "PARO" which helps older people suffering under dementia or Alzheimer to socialize but also help to improve the lack of employers in the healthcare system in fact of the generation change in western societies.

The abstract similar idea behind BABYBE and PARO is create a robot the is real enough to create a emotional interaction with a human.
